Dear friends,
Im a US-resident IMG (with 1.5 year US clinical rotation experience), I have a 81 for step 1 and a 92 in step 2 which I just recieved. Im doing a LAB reseach in a UC Ophthal. department with chances for a publication. I want to know what are my chances for applying to ophthalmology? which step is more important for them and what can I do at this point to increase my chances?
Im so interested in this field and Im willing to go to ANYWHERE to do a residency ! please post your ideas, I thankyou in advance for your time !!!
regards & God bless.

There are so many factors considered when selecting residents. It is difficult to judge without knowing more about you and without an interview. I selected people mostly based on the interview.

I have found that the interview will make or break the deal.

As an IMG applicant, however, your chances are not zero but they aren't good either. You need strong ophthalmology letters that basically state that you walk on water. Get these letters, and you'll be set. These letters are worth 10 times more than a perfect USMLE score.

Good luck! :luck:
