Hi guys! New to SDN. I wanted to know what my chances are for medical school. Both MD and DO. I would appreciate any and all help.

Gpa: 3.64
sGpa: 3.59 (applications are submitted and confirmed through aamc), sGpa: 3.5 (worst case scenario for DO since math is not calculated)
MCAT: 507 (73%) Breakdown: 127/122/128/130
My CARS was my worst section and the hardest since English was my second language. I've always struggled a bit. I was a disappointed in it as I was averaging 124.
Ohio resident, but completed HS and college in NY

Major: Biology and Spanish
Fluent in Arabic, English, and proficient in Spanish.
My AAMC application states SES Disadvantaged and EO1 (which I believe is first generation)
Came from an immigrant family
Identify as LGBT and have a strong personal statement along with an interest in serving the LGBT community.

EC's:
Over 4000 hrs clinical experience as a clinical research assistant at a cancer center *I work in a renowned top hospital). Involved in clinical trials. Great patient/research experience.
Undergrad research 2 years
Service abroad trip to Haiti. Worked medically and also served as a Spanish translator/TA
200 hrs working in hospice as a volunteer
Identify as LGBTQ and very passionate about LGBT health disparities. I volunteer at my local LGBT center. Work with Youth group, trans health, and advocating for prep/HIV awareness
over 100 hours of shadowing experience
TA of a few classes in undergrad, public health classes
First year was not so good, but upward trend of grades (I received one C- in a gen bio class and a W from withdrawing from a class, but excelled in my upper level courses getting A's)

I'm hoping that holistically my application as a whole can speak to my commitment and ability to excel in medical school. I also have a good PS I've worked on for over a year that speaks a lot my interests in medicine.

I plan to finish and submit my DO applications by today. I submitted my AAMC apps within the first day, but had to do some editing on my PS and ES's for DO cycle since the character limit is much smaller.

I would really appreciate any help coming up with a school list.

I would GREATLY appreciate any help and advice.

Aim high, my friend! If I were you I’d apply to the best D.O. Schools and some low and middle MD schools. If you are an OH resident I’d definitly throw fifty bucks at The Ohio State University! 😉

For D.O. don’t forget to include PCOM, KCU, DMU etc!

OSU has a ridiculous high average MCAT matriculation. I was approved for FAP in my aamc application and also for AACOMAS (although I think they only cover first 3 schools). I would LOVE to apply there. It's definitely one of my dream schools, but felt discouraged by their stats, especially after my CARS. It's been a long journeying getting myself to this point and figuring everything out on my own was challenging, but I appreciate this site as people have genuine input.
