Hi, I'm very interested in LECOM Erie and Seton Hill aside from their academics, also based on their proximity to my family which is a large factor due to their health issues. I am currently a grad student because I was still undecided because medicine is a huge commitment but I know now that it's the right choice for me and I desperately want to get in to one of those schools. I also have a low undergrad GPA due to a semester of illness and was wondering what I can or should do, if anything to highlight that.

Undergrad GPA: 3.0
Grad GPA: 3.5 (after 1 of 4 semesters)
Graduate Thesis Research
MCAT 1st try: 22S
Retaking MCAT 5/2013 or 6/2013

RESUME:
Community Service
2 internships
2 job shadowing
4 year student athlete
5 year employment history at a supervisory position
Assistant Coach---College Softball

What do y'all think? I really don't want to take a gap year since I'm already adding 2 years of a master's degree to my education. I would be willing but obviously not preferential to a post baccalaureate program.

Aim for 30+ when you retake the MCAT. What is your area of study in grad school? Also, did you have Cs and/or worse letter grades in other semesters other than the one in which you were ill? Is your grad program one consisting of grad level science classes to show an upward trend? Could you also elaborate a little bit on your internships and job shadowing? Sorry if I seem like I am bombarding you with questions. I just want to help you out.

Consider the LECOM post-bacc program. I know a lot of people in my class at LECOM-SH (class of 2014) found it helpful. Just check it out on the website.

Looks like you are doing the right things by doing a graduate program and retaking the MCAT. If you continue with the 3.5+ gpa and get around a 30 on the MCAT, then you should have a fair chance. That being said, limiting yourself geographically because of family makes things so much more difficult. You really need to consider how much you family life will impact you during a rigorous med school education and just how often you will be able to travel home, even if you are close to home.

On a side note, when a person applies to LECOM, can one apply to multiple campuses? Is it possible to apply to LECOM-B and LECOM-SH, without applying to the Erie campus? Is LECOM-SH even autonomous or just a second location for the Erie school?

You can apply to LECOM-B or LECOM-E/SH. For the latter, you will interview at LECOM-E and choose your preference.
