What are my chances at a good Chicago Allopathic EM program at a academic institution? I go to a DO school:
-bottom 25%
-198/81 USMLE
-408/76 COMLEX
-some research

Just a heads up- there are no bad allopathic EM programs in Chicago.

There are definitely some that are more respected than others. As for your chances with such a narrow focus and a few "red flags" for your application aren't very good. I would start asking yourself what is important? EM? Chicago? University? The reality is that getting EM anywhere will be difficult if you are in the bottom 25% of your class at an osteopathic school and have poor scores as well on both USMLE and COMLEX.

I dont mean this as a downer, but just so you can plan your future safely. I do wish you the best of luck in the process and hope that you find a specialty / location that truly make you happy.

Apply broadly, dude. It's hard to specifically say what your chances are anywhere, but certainly do not put all your eggs in Chicago...especially if you're only applying allo.

He posted the same thing in the neuro forum, but about neuro.

i know some peeps got upset with me posting the same question in different forums. i just want to clarify that i'm a ms3. i have a lot of interests at this point. i just wanted to know what I was competitive for, right now im thinking community neuro or IM programs or maybe osteopathic EM

to recap i'm a DO student at the bottom 25% of my class with a usmle score of 198/81 and comlex of 408/76. i'm hoping to move back to chicago for residency. i know i sucked my first 2 years of med school but i'm kicking butt on rotations!!
