gpa 3.3 cum, 3.1 sci
graduated dec 2012 in neurobio
mcat1 : 19, 2: 22, 3: took in sept, so idk
published 1 paper. solid 3.5 years of research
extracirriculars great. just spent this summer biking from austin to alaska for cancer
applied late: august 13 to tmdsas. and 15 to amcas
c- in physics (which counts in texas, because they dont do +/- but idk how it works for amcas)

applied to all the schools in texas. and 8 out of state.
i withdrew from tmdsas last year, thinking that i would be a better applicant this year. i personally feel that i have grown a lot this summer, so i put that as my strengths.

i need input and need to be better prepared for next year. so, if i dont get in, what should my back up plan be? I really want to do MD for a few reasons. right out of high school, i was ranked 1 of 900 and got accepted to DO direct medical at upitt. i didnt go, because i knew that i could easily get into med school. and somehow i lost track of that. and here i am even further behind.

so any input would be great. also i applied to smp programs last year. no luck. what should i do????

i forgot to mention i have also shadowed 4 doctors (emergency, internal med, surgery), volunteered at hospitals, as counselor at camp for kids with MS, taught computers at multicultural refugee center

unless you manage to score like a ridiculous MCAT score...which based on your history does not seem likely, MD is not an option for you. Your GPA is much lower than even 10th percentile ranges for both cGPA and sGPA, and your MCAT scores are also way below 10th percentile ranges for even the lowest of the low MD tiers

your only shot at becoming a doctor is to hope you do well on the MCAT, like 28+, and apply DO. even then your GPA will hold you back slightly

other options are to do post-baccs as well. SMPs wont accept you because your mcat is too low. that way you can show youre capable of doing well in classes
