Can somebody please give me their opinion on my situation:

DAT

QR 16
RC 17
BIO 18
GC 19
OC 23
AA 18
TS 19
PAT 20

GPA 3.6 GPAs 3.5

Applied to UMDNJ, BU, NYU, Temple. What are my chances? They probably received all my stuff by Sept, 15 because I got acknowledgments that they received everything. Thanks please leave your opinion.

I think your scores are 'alright.' But that 17 on RC might not be too good. I have 19/19/18 stats with 3.56/3.4 gpa but not getting any love from d-schools. I guess it is due to my RC (16) as well. I'll be retaking mine..good luck to you. I would apply to ~15 more schools if I were you. But that's just me.

Also, I do not understand why your AA is a 18. If I work out the calculation ( If I am right with this), (16+17+18+19+23)/5 comes out to be 18.6 and I thought they round it up to 19. hmm..

I think you shortchanged yourself by applying to only 4 schools. I've been advised to apply to 10+ schools due to the fierce competition. Your scores and GPA make you competitive but there is room for improvement on your DAT scores. I have AA19/TS20/PAT21 GPA cum/science 3.24/3.48 applied to 16 schools so far one rejection and 2 interviews.

Maybe they calculate AA like TS. They get the raw # of correct answers and if you're # falls within a range, you get a certain grade for your TS.

Different sections are weighed differently. I think Bio has more weigh than others.

For the AA, those 5 subject scores aren't weighted differently. If the average is 18.6, it should be rounded to a 19. No big deal though. I'm a master of untimely typos myself.

More More More Schools

Blankguy, my scores are relatively similar to yours. I have a 3.82 GPA/3.77 Science. DAT: 19 TS/20 AA/23 PAT. I only applied to 7 schools, and I've been interviewed at 5 so far and only rejected from one (and only due to my state of residence). I'd say it all depends on how solid the rest of your application is that sets you apart. Having research experience, strong LORs and a well-written personal statement are just as important. Stats matter, but the other "stuff" is what differentiates you from everyone else.

ehhhm, a 3.82 GPA is not similar to a 3.6 GPA. Neither is a 18 AA to a 20 AA.

porschex911x, I think you should apply to more schools and you should get some interviews. You should be able to get something with your stats.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they get the AA by combining your Bio/Chem/OChem sections, then combine them with the RC and QR. In his case, using this method, his AA comes out to a 17.6, which correctly gets him to an 18.

So its:
(Bio + Chem + Ochem)/3 = SNS.
(SNS + QR + RC)/3 = AA.

Regardless, the AA score is a little low. It almost seems as if anything under a 20 won't cut it if you apply this late, but then again, there's always hope that some adcom falls in love with your application and gets you an interview.
