What are my chances? Please help!

Hi,

So I had posted something before but I was able to calculate my GPA exactly as it would be on AACOMAS which currently is 2.88 cumulative GPA. I am repeating two of the courses that I didn't do well in so I'm sure that will boost my grade higher up. I am taking an extra year for my UG degree so I have 2 more semesters to pull my grade up. I am hoping to get all As and calculating those should bring my GPA to a little over cGPA of 3.0 and 3.2 sGPA.

I plan to take the MCAT in April of 2014 and hoping to get above a 30

I have a lot of leadership roles and EC that I have participated in. I will be shadowing a doctor for the summer until I go back so I am hoping to get 60+ hours of shadowing and then volunteering at the school's medical center for two semesters.

I am just really worried that the one bad year I had after transferring would deter my chances of going to medical school. What are my options as far as DO/MD schools are concerned? I am also considering applying to Caribbean schools. Is it possible? Any other advice that you can offer? Also, how many schools should I apply to? Right now, I was thinking 25 schools. Any schools you can suggest will be really helpful and I would really appreciate it, I live in NY.

Just don't do Carib. It's hard to get residency.
