Hey, I just would like to see what kind of medical schools I should be considering. I want to be a physician and am applying to only MD schools. I just finished my junior year and am going to apply by the 15th of this month (June 2017).

1. cGPA = 3.76 sGPA = 3.84
2. MCAT Score = 508
a. CPFB 128
b. CARS 127
c. BBFL 128
d. PSBB 125 (not happy with this one)
3. Central US
4. Asian
5. List of Experiences:
a. Dental “Assistant”/Help (150 hrs)
-Sterilized equipment, managed appointments, took calls
b. Cardiologist Shadowing (50 hrs)
-Followed technicians mostly, performed a supervised ECG myself
c. Free health clinic volunteer (100 hrs)
-Managed appointments, shadowed, took calls
d. Sepsis Biomedical Engineering Research (1100 hrs)
-Coauthor on 4 papers (2 published, 2 in review)
e. Linguistic Research (100 hrs)
-Presented a poster at 2 university events
f. Dialysis Research (70 hrs)
-Mostly helped the patients exercise and took vitals
g. Outreach program to get elementary kids interested in chemistry (60 hrs)
-Presented fun reactions to 3rd graders and built a lesson plan for high schoolers
h. Dean’s list for 4 semesters, honors student since entering college
-Library, food pantry, soup kitchen volunteer (altogether 175 hrs)

I had a 3.04 first semester of college and then my fist summer semester I received a C+ in sociology ( I missed an incredibly important deadline) I retook sociology and received an A and ever since that C+ I have only received As. Two of my letter of recs are pretty heavy hitters (one from the head of the bioengineering department/my sepsis research PI and the other from the director of all research at the university (she got me the linguistic research).

My dream school is University of Chicago but I am also looking at all Illinois schools besides Midwestern. Are there any other schools that I should look at? Any are schools such as UofC out of my reach?

Your MCAT score is far below the 10% percentile for U Chicago and Northwestern. You have a chance for an interview at these schools:
Your state public schools
Rosalind Franklin
Loyola
Medical College Wisconsin
St. Louis
Creighton
Tulane
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Vermont
Quinnipiac
New York Medical College
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
GW
Georgetown
Eastern Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth

I can retake the MCAT in August to increase the score. I studied for about 2.5 weeks to get that score so I can do much better.

How is my application besides the MCAT? I am worried how they will see the Bs from first semester in the lower level classes (Bio and Chem) when they see that in upper-level classes (Orgo I and II, Genetics, Genomics) I received all As and A+s.
Also, how will the C+ be seen when I retook the class and got an A (unfortunately they did not have the +/- system in that class but I received over a 100%)? I talked about it in my personal statement to explain.

I wouldn't use precious space on PS to explain the grade. PS are for "who you are" and "why medicine." Use secondaries or if comes up in interviews to explain the grade.
