Sorry here’s another late cycle application question.😳 Just got done with the DAT yesterday (24AA/24TS/25PAT) and was wondering if it is too late to apply for this cycle. My GPA is 3.71 oGPA and 3.6 sGPA.

I was originally premed until last summer and had a change of heart after shadowing a dentist while I was visiting family in Asia. I have roughly 600 hospital volunteer hours and held leadership positions for two years for a national nonprofit organization at my university. I have also done research on campus for two years (no publications though).

Currently I have roughly 40 hours shadowing a dentist in Asia and will be accumulating closer to 100 in the next couple months.

My question is what are my chances and also for the LOR I know some schools want a LOR from a dentist and was wondering an international dentist would work since I can get the dentist I shadowed to write me one or I would have to wait until I do more shadowing work here in the states and get the dentist I am shadowing to know me better before having him write me a letter which would set my application submission date to closer to mid-November.

I'm a California resident and am currently compiling my list of schools. Here is a short list I have so far (feel free to recommend any others that are suitable): USC, UCLA/UCSF (still need to take psychology though), Case Western and NYU.

Shadowing outside the US is great if you are planning on practicing dentistry on another continent.

Shadowing outside the US is great if you are planning on practicing dentistry on another continent.

There is a chance I might be practicing outside the US when I'm done with school but it's all still up in the air right now.
