Hey everyone,
I graduated college this May w/ 3.34 GPA. I switched to prepharmacy from premed, so my healthcare experience consists of scribing in the ER and shadowing doctors. I took the PCAT this July and scored a 93 on the PCAT.
I'm applying this cycle and am worried because I have not found a job as a pharmtech , and lack experience in the pharmaceutical field.
So my question is, what are my chances if I don't have that much experience? I'll be able to shadow a pharmacist starting next month, and I'm volunteering at a local clinic in the meantime.

You will be fine. You got good GPA with a degree and excellent PCAT. That is the most difficult part.

You will have enough time to gain some experience from now to schools' deadlines for application. Start shadowing for a few months and you could ask for LORs then. Some schools do not even ask for LORs from pharmacists, and many people get accepted with little or no pharmacy experience.

Also, you might have to prepare to articulate your reason and passion for pharmacy very well on your personal essay and in your interviews. Apply wisely and widely. GL !! 🙂

Thank you for the positive words!! It means a lot. 🙂 (My top choice is the University of Texas, but honestly I'll be ecstatic if I get accepted into any school).

You are welcome !! But for real you will get in. You have good chance. You got a degree with a good GPA and an excellent PCAT. With some solid LORs, you will be able to get in mid to top ranked schools (that might include your in-state school, U of Texas ??)
