Hey guys,
So I am already a licensed pharmacist in India. I cam here in 2010 and started my pre reqs as a pre med. I have 3.95 sGPA 3.86 cGPA and 22 (9P 9B 4V) in MCAT. my verbal is not balanced since my primary language is a foreign language . My whole education was based on that foreign language which made verbal section really challenging. I am preparing for my second MCAT hoping to get a better score.
Also, I have around 1700 hours of volunteering with Au last 80 hours of shadowing. I was also working full time while taking full time classes. I am also a registered pharmacy technician with more than a year of experience.
I also have been involved in some leadership roles. Being a successful vocalist, I have my own music band for last 2 and half years. I have been doing lot of charity shows and performances.
I have applied to 12 DO schools for 2015 cycle. What do you guys think about my chances to get accepted or to get called for an interview?

Your grades are awesome.

As far as I know your verbal score will screen you out of every US DO/MD school. I just have to give it to you straight. Some DO schools set the bar at a 6 for each section, and some set it at 7 minimum. And those numbers apply if the rest of your application is good. So if you are able to break a 6 or 7, you will have fighting chance. If you can get your verbal to a 6 or 7, AND get your other scores at 10+ (so then roughly a 27+ total) you significantly help your chances. Someone with a 27 MCAT and near 4.0 gpa has an extremely good shot at getting into a school.

agreed.

you will have a tough time even getting an interview invite with a 4. possibly even a secondary depending on when they screen.

a retake is a MUST. i would not suggest retaking until you are averaging 10P 10B 8V. i'd rather you over-prepare than under. you have to show these schools that the 4 was a fluke and that it is not representative of your work.

what were your verbal averages before your first MCAT?

I prepared on my own with out any guidance. I just reviewd all the stuff and took the exam.
Now that I am practicing I am getting 7-9 on exam cracker, 5-6 on AMCAS practice tests and berkeley review. So verbal is the only hold up

Just keep practicing. The AMCAS practice tests are your best bet at showing how you will do. Save those until the end of your studying after you have pretty much exhausted all other methods.

Examkrackers are the best, then Princeton's are decent, berkeley is not known for having good verbal practice... Kaplan's is meh. Just keep hitting practice passages under timed conditions. If you get the verbal up to 7-8+ on your AAMCs then that would be the time to take it, if you still cant break 5-6 then I would hold off... even if it means another year of waiting to apply. A second bad score will likely be detrimental to your application in the future. Make sure you are hitting about 2 points higher on practice tests than the scores that you want on your application.

High chance as long as you get a 7+ on verbal and get an overall of 25+

Keep practicing verbal with Aamc material and ek 101. I would try to get it up to an 8 or 9 average if possible before your exam because you want some wiggle room in case you experience a drop on test day. I know verbal is frustrating but if you can get a 7 your fine.
