I am planning on applying to all FL MD/DO schools and maybe a few "reach" schools. With my unbalanced stats and story how far should I "reach?"

Thank you

I have seen applying as disadvantaged because one's children are suffering backfire.

Ah ok... I only had put that because someone I know mentioned I should "check that box." There is a few more reasons I think I am "disadvantaged" but I have no problem not bringing it up if there is any chance it can hurt me

...so when you refer to your "unbalanced stats" are you referring to your lowish cGPA?
Your MCAT is a little low for the MD schools but not DO schools in FL.
I can only speak about FSU since I got in, but FSU is a little different as far as their outlook. They are incredibly holistic, they look at the whole person and they try to gauge who is really trying hard and who has the competency and drive to become a great doctor to help the underserved. They believe stats are important, but not everything, just a part of a whole picture, which I like. My stats were similar to yours and I got into FSU, but I can't speak to other schools since FSU was the only interview I got in Florida.

I was thinking more unbalanced between my cGPA and sGPA. I have looked into FSU and UF mostly and they are certainly my top choices in Florida. At the same time I would have no problem going DO if I was accepted. Ultimately I would just like to practice medicine.

I am applying as "disadvantaged" if that matters, my family is on some health assistance programs for one of my children and we are well under the poverty line.

The reason my cGPA is low is due to grades that are now 9 years old (econ, comp 1) that I enrolled in and never attended (1st college semester), got F's, but retook for A's.

The reason I got interested in medicine is because one of my children is very sick and had significant surgeries since birth and will need continuous care his entire life. This got my moving in the direction of medicine and the basis of my personal statement. I am planning on applying to all FL MD/DO schools and maybe a few "reach" schools. With my unbalanced stats and story how far should I "reach?"

Thank you
