Is your home state TX? If yes, then you should be fine. Only apply to schools OOS that you would go to over the cheap IS TX COA.

I would remove the other state schools you have listed and only apply to private schools outside of TX. If you don't want to heed that advice, then definitely remove University of Washington. They only really accept from the WWAMI region, which is why their OOS numbers appear so high.

Yes, Texas is my current residence but Also have residence in Pittsburgh. Baylor pitt and Vanderbilt are my favorite schools from that list, which all happen to be quite the stretch.... but did not know that about Washington, I will remove them. Thanks for the great advice!

You need only apply to schools you prefer to TX where you think you might be a scholarship candidate.
Okay, thank you for the advice! As for Texas Baylor is my top and out of state Vanderbilt and Pittsburgh are my dream/stretch schools, like case western as well but again seems to be a bit of a stretch....

SDN likes to give realistic advice, but I don't think you should be discouraged from applying to a few "reach" schools, if you can afford the extra application $$. I applied to a whole bunch of reaches, most of them I was rejected to but some of them I was accepted to. You never know unless you try and if you think you'll be sitting around in March of 2017 thinking "gosh, I wonder what would have happened if I had just applied to X school of medicine" then, by all means, apply to those schools. I think Vanderbilt, Case, UPitt, and Baylor are healthy reaches considering you have a good number of TX schools to fall back on.

You mentioned you had Pitt residence...do you mean to say you have ties to PA? If you do, it also can't hurt to throw in some of those schools (Penn State, Temple, Drexel, Jefferson) if you're looking for more schools to add. Be careful with your state of residence though...just because you went to undergrad in a particular state doesn't necessarily mean you're a resident there.

Good luck! Feel free to ask any other questions you may have 🙂

I do have residency in both states, and Ill take a look at the other programs. Pitt was my main choice because logging would be free and very close to the campus. Thanks again!
