Hey I'm new here and wanted to know my chances for D.O. schools

-3.4 cGPA
-3.4 sGPA
-507 MCAT
-1000 hrs ER research
-1000 hrs ER volunteering
-100 hours of shadowing
-Research with bio professor in school for 300 hours
-Apart of many clubs and on Eboard of a few Pre-Med clubs
-Red Cross member and been on a medical mission trip in South America
-Medical scribe
-Almost published under ER doc

The thing is built my gpa up from 2.5 and took many retakes along with doing well in many classes. However due to overloading on credits a few semesters I retook a few classes more than once for a higher grade. Have a few F's early on. The trend I have is mostly upward. I just wanted to know my chances for D.O. schools and which schools I would be okay to apply to. Thank you

Are you planning on applying this cycle or next? You have very similar numbers to myself, with different EC's, and I would say if you apply next cycle you would stand a very good chance at getting in somewhere great! That being said, it is starting to get late in this cycle and the pickin's may be a bit slim. Whenever you decide to apply, the only advice I can give you from personal experience is to be able to articulate your experiences well and be able to really connect them to medicine, etc. My PS, LORs and secondary essays were very likely what got me the interviews I have so far.

So from someone with similar stats as you, just know that if you really work hard on polishing your app, you can end up putting yourself in a really good spot.

I am applying around July/aug next cycle

Hey @Goro, I have 5 C's. Three of which are in biology classes (Biostats, Genetics and cell bio). The other two are non science. Do these hinder me much regarding my application. Thank you. Everything else Is mainly A's and B's.

Hey just an update, I plan on taking genetics and cell bio as retakes in the spring before I apply because I have the time which would potentially boost my gpa to 3.5 and so the only Cs on my transcript would be in all non science courses (three courses: 2 writings freshman year and bio stats). I forgot to mention I have 6 W's throughout my undergraduate academic career but they are spread out.

At my UG school, it was given in both the Math and Bio Dep'ts!

I see it listed under "Bio" in AACOMAS forms.
At my UG it was under a Bio course but it wasn't factored into my science GPA (same with a Brain and Behavior course that was a BIO suffix but was applied as a psych course

I checked under aacomas and they list it under math courses which I don't believe is calculated into your science gpa.
