Hello, Everyone. Thank you for reading and your assistance.

I would like to know about my chances (if any) to be accepted at a dental school in 2018. I'm currently in the middle of deciding if its dentistry or pharmacy that I want to pursue, as I experience in both fields and have family members in both areas as well.

My Stats:
Biology BS: 3.0 Overall, about 2.9 science
Grad: MPH, 3.9 GPA
No DAT, yet

I have about 80 hours of working with 2 dentists.

My question is if I do well on the DAT, do I have a shot somewhere, or I will have to do an SMP or post-bacc?
I live in NY so would like to stay here, but do not mind moving.

Thank you.

What's your MPH concentration?

It was in Epidemiology. I understand that schools want to see higher-level sciences classes (like those in a linkage program), but do you think the mph will help in any way? Thanks.

Asking this question without a DAT score is as useful as asking what kind of car you can get without knowing how much money you'll have.

Also, I think you need to do more research since you don't know which field you want.

Yeah, I understand, that without the dat, its pretty much impossible to predict. But, say I get a 20...then with those gpas..any shot?

Also, the reason I'm in between pharmD and dental school is because of my past loans. While the pharmd, is shorter in terms of school (some programs are 3 years only) years, and less, tuition, but there so much saturation in the field that no one knows if there will be enough jobs by 2020 or not. On the other hand, dental school is much more expensive, and will just add more to my debt, but the job outlook seems promising. There might be saturation here as well, but its not as bad as pharmacy schools. I'm going to continue working with the dentist though and try to improve my ECs and PS. Thanks!

Well the good thing with Epi is that it will directly affect your BCP & GPA (at least for this past cycle) since it's viewed as a Biology class. Where'd you do your Master's? Did you complete a thesis or Internships? Any research focused on oral health?

That sounds great. Hopefully, it follows for 2018 cycle as well. I went to cuny hunter, no thesis, fieldwork related internships, and have had two public health-related employments, but nothing on oral health. I'm a nontrad so some of premed courses are almost 10 years old....hopefully this will not be a problem?
