So I got my April 28th MCAT scores back last week, and I'm wondering if I should retake the MCAT before applying to DO schools.

Here are my stats:
- MCAT: 504 total with sub-scores of 124/124/128/128 (BB/CP/CARS/PS)
- cGPA: 3.92
- sGPA:3.85
- non-sGPA: 3.99
- B.S. Biology major, Spanish minor, and honors student
- Shadowing: MD for 17 hours in Neurology, DO for 15 hours in Emergency Medicine, and PA for 8 hours in Emergency Medicine
- Volunteering: working on accruing hospital volunteer hours this summer
- Research: working in an analytical chemist's lab this summer testing the stability of several anesthetic drugs, also have assisted one of my professors with her research regarding student athletes' average ankle stability both prior to and following ankle injury (1 years)
- Clubs: social media coordinator for Women in STEM club (1 year) and FCA worship band member (1 year)
- Tutoring: tutored General Chemistry (2 years) and also began working in the writing center as the science writing specialist this past semester

I am not particularly choosy about where I apply. I just know that I want to apply to DO rather than MD schools because I appreciate DOs' more holistic approaches.

Thanks for any advice!

Where is your state of residence? You are competitive for all DO schools so just pick at least 10 that appeal to you and include any in your state of residence.

I am a Virginia resident. Thanks for the reassurance!

You seem like a very solid candidate. Just really research the schools you would like to invest your time money and energy. Start looking at interview questions as well...maybe early August. Also if you really want to be a DO, I would suggest you take some time and research if there are any conferences or club you can be a part of. It will highlight your interest in DO. I was in a similar situation like yours...and I too shadowed both a DO and MD. But I wanted to stand out a bit more so I found this Osteopathic organization that met for conferences every so often...students were welcomed. So this helped me really prove that I am genuinely dedicated to DO. These are just suggestions. I just think something that shows you are dedicated to the DO profession apart from shadowing a DO will really set you apart in your application, secondaries, and interviews. All the best! I hope this was helpful.
