Hello all! I am (like everyone else) freaking out about medical school applications. I was hoping some of you would be able to help me just get some more information on my chances!

Stats:
FL Resident
Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Minor: Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior
GPA:3.95
MCAT: 510 (128/125/126/131)
Shadowing: 100 hours in 8 specialties
Researched in 2 labs, one for 425 hrs (presented poster at national conference as 1st author, won 2nd and 1st in local school poster presentation). Other lab researched 950 hrs.
Volunteered in Free medical clinic: 100 hours
Volunteered as a tour guide for my University: 200 hours
Phi Delta Epsilon (medical fraternity) served as historian and philanthropy chair (150 hrs)
Group Fitness Instructor at University gym: 150 hours. Attended and presented at fitness conference
and then random hours doing medical missions- roughly 100

Your 126 biochem may hurt just a little, but I say you have a fighting shot, especially as a fellow FL applicant. Any consistent work with the underserved? I'd recommend that if you have time to this year. Do you have strongggg connections to South Carolina? if not, those would simply be donations to those schools. I'd look at MSAR and filter to private schools, and add a few that are around your mcat/gpa. Good luck ~

Oh I go to the University of South Carolina now which the schools here consider strong ties. And yes, I have worked in a free medical clinic with patients who have limited access to health care for about a year and a half now and done some Remote Area Medical Clinics volunteering.
