ok so what do you folks think my chances are. I have 3.1 undergrad GPA (sociology and gender studies mostly), 3.6 postbac sGPA and a 514 MCAT. The postbac and MCAT were completed while working as Research Assistant in a lab for 3 years. My letters of rec are from my undergrad department chair, a MD department chair at a major land grant medical center and then a nationally renowned researcher I work with. I also have loads of leadership experience.

Where is your state of residence ? Do you have any physician shadowing or clinical volunteering hours ?
Michigan. My life has been shadowing; son of a doctor, congenital heart patient. And my volunteer experience has been mostly non clinical with a little clinical.

Michigan has a lot of instate schools so you have a good shot there, otherwise apply broadly cause some schools might screen that gpa, probably would be good to get some clinical experience as well.

You should accumulate 50 physician shadowing hours (including primary care) and 200+ clinical volunteering hours with patient contact before you apply. Then you would be competitive for most DO schools. Apply to at least 10 DO schools and include MSUCOM.
For MD schools you could try these:
Central Michigan
Michigan State
Wayne State
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Toledo
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
George Washington
Penn State
NOVA MD
Seton Hall
New York Medical College
Quinnipiac
