Allright, here's my story

I'm just entering my junior year of school (i have 66 credits), and i applied for the 2005 cycle. My GPA is 3.95 and DAT is 18AA/18TS/19PAT. I have some good shadowing hours and have a year of research experience. All my dental school course requirements are finished except physics which i'll be taking this year. I've applied to 5 schools in the midwest area.

what do you think my chances are of getting in somewhere with only 3 years of undergrad completed?

Do you think i should take my DAT again?

It's possible, however, I think your DAT is a little low for an early application. It will also depend on what undergrad Univ. you went to and how difficult of classes you took. Your GPA is excellent, but we don't know enough other factors to give you a good answer.

No, just apply... you have nothing to lose really since you are applying a year early. If you dont get in, just finish you degree and you'll be a sure-in.

I think you have mucho chances at those midwest schools ...I wish I had residency out in that parts... go for it... I hear of stories of how young my friends classmates are in their respective dental school first year class... There's always a school out there that will be willing to take on a phenom.... when in doubt... look at this year's NBA draft... =)

oh yeah... your scores are good... plus your GPA is awesome... especially if that includes most or all of the prereqs... minus the physics like you said... go for it!

I would say it is worth a shot. The only thing I think that you don't have playing well for you is the amount of time you have been in school. You have some solid scores and you'll never know unless you apply. After all, I think the worst that could happen is that schools will ask for you resubmit after another year and you'll be out a few bucks and the best that could happen is you could get in somewhere and not have to take another year of undergrad (which I am sure you are dying to do). Go for it!

thanks everyone for all the adivce and encouragement! I have one interview invite so far, so that has gotten me very excited. who knows maybe i'll luck out, but if not there is always next year, just like baseball tryouts, haha!

ya, I am in the same boat as you, but I have about 90 credits at comm. college level that only gave me 64 when I recently transfered to university. I applied for 2005, and recently got an 18/18 on the big DAT. It will be a modern day miracle if I get in, but like you and many other's, I said what the heck and put in my app. That is awsome that you have an interview already. I applied a little late (late july), so I haven't heard anything back. I hope that I get interviews and I can sweep them off their feet with my good looks and charming personallity. jk

I think the OP has an excellent chance, but it might have helped to apply to several more schools.

Science Gpa: 3.21

DAT SCORES:

AA: 19
PAT:15
Science: 18

My two lowest scores were in bio(16) and pat(15) other than that I had 18+ on every section

Do you think I will get in, and what schools do I have the best chances at, I applied really early too.

gotta give us more info, like what schools did you apply too?

Were like fortune tellers, so take what we say as a load of crap, and then while trying to decepher what the crap means, will you get your answer.
