Not much of a chance with that kind of MCAT to allopathic schools. You probably have a decent shot at osteopathic schools but if you want allopathic you would need at least a 27. Retake the MCAT would be my suggestion.

if u don't plan to take mcat again, then your only choice is one of the many carib. med. schools.

Retake the exam. Boost your score up to a 27, maybe even a 26, and you're good to go.

I think you should defininitely retake the MCAT. How did you study? How long did you study? How much did you actually put into understand the material? Definitely retake this exam in April or August of 2005. Take your time, and if you feel like you need some time, wait until August. I wish I had your GPA, I am Peruvian and I am in the middle of a post bacc taking all of the pre-reqs. Being a minority may help you a bit, but you need to retake this exam and get a better grade. I dont even know if many DO school would take you with a 20 MCAT.

Good luck, and study hard!

Poor as it stands now, Excellent if you push that MCAT to 30+. Provided you have decent extracurriculars. GOod luck.

Woah...you dont need a 30+ by any stretch. You've got an excellent gpa and youre a URM...both in your favor. If you crack 25+ you have a chance. With a 27+, you're in.

Although the MCAT can seem daunting, it really isnt. There are so many people who have gone from 26 to 34. You read about it all the time on this forum once scores come out. Take a prep course, study, study, study. It would be a shame if you didnt try to pull up that MCAT with your numbers and ethnicity. Work at it.

FYI: Most med schools require you to be at least a permanent resident. Being hispanic is great, but if you dont have a green card, you probably wont have a shot except at some private schools.

Probably not. A minority candidate, but not an underrepresented minority. Probably. They changed the definition this year (it used to be specific) but you still have to be from a group underrepresented in medicine relative to the general population. Blacks, Mexicans, Native Americans, and mainland Puerto Ricans is the old definition.

with a low mcat, they will call into question a very high gpa unless from a prominent selective school.

i suggest you retake mcat too....
