Excellent Chance.

Good Luck!

You don't like your job or something? I am also currently working in a clinical lab (not a CLS though) and it seems like a pretty cool job - not terribly stressful, good hours/benefits, and awesome pay. Are you in California? With that 17 years of experience, you could really make a serious money here in CA. My boss (a CLS supervisor in Microbiogy Dept) makes about $90,000 a year with about two months of paid vacation per year. Since you are already 41 years old, I would be cautious about making a career change. Though, if pharmacy is your passion, then you should definitely go for it. Good luck!

Looking for a career change. What would my age have to do with a career change? Lab work is like factory work....you dont even need to think much anymore because of the automation. I always wanted to be a practitioner of some sort(doctor, dentist, pharmacist,PA). I never felt like I reached my full potential in lab. I am now in the position (kids growing up,enough money saved to get through grad school) where grad school can be an option. I understand that in CA., the cost of living is high, so 90,000 may seem like alot of money but in reality it is not.

I think you should go for pharmacy if that's what you want to do. Not all pharm students can bee 21 year old know-it-alls anyway. Good luck!!!

There's nothing wrong with having a career change. I was basically just pointing out that CLS's could make a lot of money as well. By the way, I personally think that $90K is an awesome pay and definitely enough for someone like myself to live on even in California. Despite of what you may have heard, $90K is not by any means a crappy salary and you would definitely be able to have a nice living here in So Cal. Anyway, it's your decision, so good luck with your pharmacy school application.

We're the same age and have similar motivations for a career change (although I worked in another industry). If pharmacy is what you want then go for it. Your life experience will only benefit you.
