Ok i have done really well in my pre-req classes but i failed physics 1 bc i missed an exam but i repeated with the same prof and got a B. Also, i got a C in orgo 1 and repeated for a B- and got another C in orgo 2. i made 4 C's in upper division classes like genetics, Anylitical chem. I guess i never cared bc it wasnt for my pre-req but i realized i was wrong in thinking that. This year i was able to make an A in biochem, and mostly A's and B's in upper division classes like cellbio, Anatomy and micro bio (all upper level). I mean its not easy to make A's in upper division classes. Would an 85 Pcat score get me in a Florida pharm school. Any ideas? and i have 3 years of pharm tech experience and good extra curriculars. thanks for all the suggestion.

almost 100 views but no response i dont get it????

i think u have a good chance, but what are ur stats? also wat schools do u plan on applying to?

This question gets asked all the time, and all answers are just opinions from peers mostly.
If all those Cs were in prereqs it seems like a lot to me and imo when a class is repeated and you do not get an A the second time you take the class that hurts you also. 85 is a good pcat score but I think you selling yourself through essays and interviews, volunteerinG, experience and getting good LORs are going to make or break you. No one on here has access to that info, so can't really help you. If you just want averages call up the colleges and they will tell you average GPAs and PCATs....

Also depends on if you are a resident at state schools.

well bc phamrcas includes repeats i have a 2.7 science and 3.1 overall. i know its not good but those C's were in upper divison classes. i made Almost all A's and a few B's in pre-reqs. that F in physics really pulled me down bc it was 4 credits though but i repeated it for a B.

Upper division is tougher but come interview time if they ask about grades just saying "they were upper division" is not going to cut it and that it is why they are important indicators of whether you will be able to handle graduate level pharmacy classes...

If you're having trouble in upper division undergrad courses, how are you going to handle graduate/professional level courses? If you are struggling this hard in the classes, I don't think an 85 on the PCAT is realistic. Of course, you may prove me dead wrong, in which case, good for you.

Nobody here can tell you if you'll get accepted into your choice of school. Although from my perspective (I've sat on many, many professional school adcoms), I'd be pretty hesitant to consider someone who's did so poorly in undergrad and then attempts to make the case for "...it's hard to get As in upper division courses. "

i didnt necessarily do poorly i n upper divison classes that was only one semester. I made A in Biochem, A- in cell bio, A in microbio and A in Anatomy (all upper level). so its not that im struggling its just that one semester i didnt care so much but i learned my mistake though. Plus i was working almost full time and all throughout college but i still managed to do well.

You're right; I mis-read your original post, sorry. Just continue to do well. A couple Cs aren't going to kill you. Having re-read your original post, I can see now that you might indeed get an 85 on the PCAT, maybe more.

Please remember that the members of this forum represent a very small portion of all pharmacy school applicants. You should be concerned with how well your application will compare to everyone's, not just the relative few who post in here with their claims to 4.0 GPAs and PCATs of 95 and been in the running for the Nobel price in chemistry, etc, etc.

You might want to speak to someone in Admissions at your preferred school, and see if they can give you an idea how competitive you are. Sometimes the reasons for the shortfalls in certain areas are what actually makes an applicant more interesting, more competitive.

thanks, i took aton of hard upper level classes while working full time to challenge myself. that may sound stupid or cheesy but i said if im going to pay 20,000 a year i definitely need to know if im ready plus i dont plan to work at all then when i start bc that would be insane. yeah i will see how things go. gluck
