Hi,
I was wondering is it possible to get in with a 2.89 science GPA and an overall of about 3.0? I'm very interested in attending next year. I went to a chiropractic college prior and received a BS in Human biology. Can i apply right now with these stats? My mcat is in the making but shooting for a 23-26. thinking about cspm and nycpm.

I would probably try and get the science GPA up closer to 3.0 before actually applying. Do you still have some prereqs to complete? That could also be a factor. You'd be in okay shape if truly scored over 25+ on the MCAT...

If you have a pulse and a semi-decent GPA (which you do), welcome to podiatry!1

yes i completed my prerequisites with a 3.0 what got me was a D in histology im retaking it right now.

Sorry to sound pessimistic here, but if you flunked out of chiro school, I think you have to be concerned that you might be wasting your time and $ in pod school. You may get into NYCPM, but even if you can even get in, you need to work hard.

Maybe there are unseen factors/distractions here, and if there are, you need to turn things around. The best way to prove that is to do well on MCAT... "shooting for a 23-26" and actually getting it are two different things. You should be shooting for a 45 😉

i didnt flunk out of chiropractic school i went to an undergrad program that has a bachelors of human biology. and i took about 23 units last semester. what makes you think that chiropractic school is easy anyway? did you actually ever see the curriculum they throw at you? or you just have a biased opinion?

Well, I apologize. The wording in your orig post at the top made it sound like you had undertaken the chiro curriculum and quit or been dismissed. Nope, I don't know much about chiro... I never considered it.

Early apps are generally given preference for any professional med program, so I would suggest you apply now, get the ball rolling, and then send your MCAT scores when you get them back. Again, best of luck with the MCAT and the app process... and the Bentley plans. 🙂

Np i didn't get dismissed this is my first class that i got a D in. this is why i was concerned. you know how it is with the gpa one course can off balance everything. i guess i gotta bite the bullet and retake it.

This is going to be a competitive year. I spoke to David Martin (Temple) to get a feel on things so far. Your GPA is low, but not out of the game. I agree that you need a decent mcat score. The minimum for even getting an interview was 18 at Temple. That is 6 across the board. Just a few years ago, cats were getting accepted with scores like 16 and 17. Times have changed and some schools will not even talk to you until you at least score a 21. (Barry) I agree with Feli that you need to aim for a 45 mcat. The mcat is a difficult test and people usually get 2-4 points less on the real mcat vs the practice tests. I ranged from 28-34 on practice tests and ended up with a 29. With your GPA, i recommend at least getting a 22-25. That score + your semi 3.0 GPA should get you in someplace. I also agree that you should apply ASAP and to as many schools as you can afford, not just 2. Good luck future podiatrist!

People should know that the minimum score for any decent school is a 21 this year.
