I would like to know what my chances are for admission this coming cycle. If you guys are not sure, please do not post. I need feedback from someone with experience and knowledge.

DAT

AA: 19
PA: 18
QR: 18
RC: 16
Bio: 18
GC: 21
OC: 22
Total Science: 20

GPA
I have a B.S. in Chemistry from UCLA with a GPA of 3.9. I am a transfer student from community college. I took prerequisites biology, physics, general chemistry, and English at community college. I took organic chemistry and biochemistry at UCLA. I have maintained mostly straight A's at UCLA.

EXPERIENCE
I have around 1,100 hours of dentistry experience. I worked at a community college as a math tutor. I am a private math, chemistry, and physics tutor. I worked in a pharmacy for two years. I have no research experience nor volunteering hours.

I applied in late December last cycle and did not get any interviews. What are my chances for this cycle. Please do not post if you are not sure.

-without research, schools like ucla, ucsf, harvard will be tough for you
-without high DAT score, it may be hard to get into columbia, uop
-among the top schools, you have ur best shot at upenn. very high gpa with slightly low DAT score.
-But you have fairly good chance of getting into other schools because of ur high GPA at ucla.

All of it doesnt matter if you are a minority^^

Is it necessary? I am not aiming for a particular school. Also if there were more practice exams, I would highly consider retaking. I also fear a decline in biology.

Nobody is sure. Even if you asked an adcom, they wouldn't be sure. Anyhow, your GPA looks above average, and your DAT is approx. average (in terms of matriculates.) Apply to enough schools and you have a decent chance.

Is a AA 19 considered a good score?

Average as in what? Average for those accepted or those who have a 50/50 chance of getting into atleast 1 school.

These are the schools I am planning on applying to.

Loma Linda University (LLU) University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) University of Southern California (USC) University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Western University of Health Sciences (WESTU) University of Connecticut (CONN) Nova Southeastern University (NSU) University of Iowa (IOWA) Boston University Henry M Goldman School of Dental Medicine University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) Creighton University (CRE) University of Nebraska (NEB) University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (NJDS) University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) University at Buffalo (BUF) New York University (NYU) Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CUL) Stony Brook University (SUSB) The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, Temple University (TEMP) University of Pittsburgh (PITT) University of Pennsylvania (PENN) Meharry Medical College (MEH) Baylor College of Dentistry (BAY) University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (SAN) Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Marquette University (MQT)

Thats a lot of schools. Maybe look at acceptance for non-resident like UTHSCSA and all other texas school have a 95% texas resident acceptance. You end up wasting money because your chances are low.

In addition to San Antonio, what other schools should I not apply to?

Is it possible for me to get scholarships with my DAT scores and GPA? I had a full ride as an undergraduate at UCLA. This may be an absurd question but I'm just curious.

most likely not with your DAT scores... (i also think you might want to look at a retake... a 16 RC is pretty low)

you might also want to research those schools you want to apply to a little better concerning your CC prereqs... for example, you had BU on your list - the ADEA book says that BU doesn't accept CC credit for prereqs, but will accept it for electives, whereas USC says they will only allow a "very limited number" of prereqs to be completed at a CC. i don't know where you applied to last year, but this might have been a factor as to why you didn't get any interviews last cycle.

good luck!

BU states that you "should" take prerequisites at 4 year institution, but it does not say you "must" take it. I hope it doesn't ruin my chances at BU.

How many credits exactly did you take at your community college? From the ADEA Guide I know that several schools have limits on community college credits. Temple limits it to 6, Boston limits it to 30. All schools have different policies. Goodluck!

really? where are you getting that info, from their website? i just looked back again at their ADEA profile in the book, and there it says:

Community college coursework accepted for prereqs: No - prereqs only from 4-yr accred. US/Canada college

maybe this would be a case where you should call the school up? i don't know

Where do you get the ADEA book from? Is there a local bookstore that might have it?

It seems odd to me that you have such and insane GPA with such a average DAT. Couldnt you retake the DAT and then be a super solid candidate

What if I do more poorly in some of the sections on the next DAT. Do schools look at all DAT scores or just the most recent scores?

i think you will get many interviews apply to 10+ schools

you can also find that information in the ADEA book - some libraries might order it - you could check your local library i guess, but you can also order it off their website. it's been pretty useful.
