retaking DAT in september
submitted application august 7th, 2009

Michigan resident, have hundreds of hrs of volunteering experience, 300 hrs of job shadowing/volunteering. Good LOE, decent extracurricular activities, took two years off to do medical research.

Your BCP and Science GPA are a little low and your DAT is average, but nothing that will be a red flag on your application. Applying to lots of schools is a good idea, and I think that having lots of shadowing/research experience will be advantageous to you. You should get a few interviews, and make sure you do well on them (the interview is what will help seperate you from the rest of the applicants).
 
no for Columbia but yes for other schools
