My undergrad gpa is a 3.3 but I will soon receive my PhD in Pharmacology from an ivy league school (top 3).
(A few semesters I had bad performance due to an illness and unexpected death in the family--this was explained on my graduate school app and I got in everywhere i applied including Columbia, Yale, Penn, etc..)

MCAT: 33 (evenly dispersed)
Grad school grades are all good.
Research experience great/Great letters of rec/Publications since I was 18
Clinical experience
Great community service record, as well

How much will my undergrad gpa count if I've done well in my graduate courses and have great research experience with a PhD in Pharmacology....and I'm a female URM

Med schools care mostly about your uGPA. Nevertheless, I think you have a very good chance even if ur GPA is on the low side. I believe your 33 mcat can make up for that. Apply early to mid-low tier school so you can increase your chances. However, for the top 20 schools, it will be a crapshoot.
Edit: Your URM status will give a 90%+ chances with these stats.

Be sure you have recent clinical experience and community service when you apply. Don't forget to get in some shadowing. Any Leadership, Teaching, Artistic Endeavors, and Hobbies are good to list. The PhD is a great "experience" to have and the research and pubs will serve you well.

I suppose but maybe I am being a bit naive. I've heard from several sources that those that have PhDs have less weight on their undergraduate grades. Especially being at a prestigious medical school now (just in the PhD program). I don't know. I'll probably go over to the admissions office at the Med school and seek some more advice too. I just don't understand why one not so good factor has to outweigh everything else, which is good.

Is it not a package deal?
