i would say while that is the approximate mcat avg of matriculating students, since your gpa is a little lower than the avg, you should aim a little higher on the mcat.

also, if you have extracurriculars that helps

but then again.. i have no idea what i am talking about, as do most of the people on here, because none of us are really part of an admissions committee.

does anybody want me to give my opinion on this matter? I am guessing 90 percent of the people reading this thread have an opinion on a 2.8 gpa, but dont want to say it.

although i am not on any admissions committee either and am only entering my first year....from all of my research...it is not unheard of to be admitted with that gpa...typically your mcat should be higher than a 22 if your gpa is below the national average for admittance...which it is...that being said i think what airbud is referring to is that maybe you should think about doing a post-bacc or a masters to prove to both yourself and schools that you can handle the cirriculum of podiatry school...you dont want to throw yourself into rough waters when you arent prepared to swim....not mentioning the cost of school...all the best...i wish you success in your future endeavors...

LOL.. i cant deal with you.. you crack me up.

Ok well we can speculate all we want to but honestly theres nothing we can say for sure. Also, you dont have an mcat score yet so if you do well on that and possibly bring your gpa before you apply next fall, then you have a punchers chance. (I am not sure if you applied this cycle or planning to apply next cycle) I have talked to some accepted students at different schools with stats not so far off from where you are so be confident, apply and wait. Do some extracurriculars in the meantime; shadow, volunteer, something at school maybe, etc. Try and get some good letters, people underestimate a great letter from a reputable source.

LOL, so true. Just apply, it's not that expensive to invest in your future.

I have a feeling that that isn't at all what air bud is trying to say. I think he is trying to say that a 2.8 GPA is pretty piss-poor and that there aren't too many grad programs that would find that acceptable, especially if you only score a 22 MCAT... but maybe I'm just reading into it.

Of course, since I'm nicer than air bud, I'll add that you should work really hard and get a good MCAT so your chances improve 😀
