I'm planning to submit my app (hopefully tomorrow) to the following schools:

U of Michigan
Marquette
Tufts
Columbia
Detroit Mercy
UCLA
UCSF
UWashington
UPenn
Harvard (ha, just trying..)

Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.5 sGPA: 3.4
DAT: 24AA/ 26TS/ 21PAT

I have a substantial amount of extracurriculars, over 50 hours of dental shadowing, and non-dental research experience with planned endo-research for this summer.

Do you guys think I need more safety schools/less reaches?

It's like driving a Bentley and asking if you'll be able to pick up a chick.

Unless you're completely socially awkward and can't communicate, you can show up half naked at your interview and you'll still get in.

Dude, cmon, but since you ask, I believe that you have a great chances of getting into everyschool on that list. Apply early, and youll get your interviews in August, get accepted on Dec 1st.

What I'm really concerned about is my GPA... does anyone have any input on my chances based on that?

I'm worried that schools with lower stats than mine, would reject me because of my high DAT, but my reach-schools would reject me because of my low GPA.

Any comments/suggestions?

what input do you need. seriously....ur gpa shouldn't be a concern and u stand an equal chance of getting interviewed at all those schools against the other strong applicants

I know exactly what you are talking about. It might sound funny but it can be true...Thats what happened to my friends. They didnt hear from usc, tufts, bu, nyu and etc. when they had 3.8+ gpa and 21+ dat. Luckliy, they got interviews from top tiers. Good thing that they had both high gpa and dat. I dont know how schools are going to look at students with high dat with average dat or low dat with high gpa....

yeahh exactly. i've heard of many similar cases. so yeah, i guess my concern/question is whether i need less reaches and more safeties/matches.. or if having more "safeties" would be a risk bc of what i've seen with other people getting declined from schools with lower stats than theirs.
