Hi guys, I'm applying to some American dental schools this year. In my opinion I think I am applying to schools that might not be even worth it for me to apply because of my low Canadian DAT score (I didn't have enough time to prepare for it) and depending on your comments I may reconsider my decisions.

Anyways, here is my info and the list of schools I have in mind. Any advice or constructive criticism will be highly appreciated 🙂

*University of Toronto, St.George Campus
*Honors Bachelor of Sci in June 2011
*Korean LDS (RM) - moved to Canada 8 yrs ago. Canadian citizen.
*current GPA: 3.99
*DAT score (Canadian): AA20 TS21 PAT22
*100 hours of shadowing
*Currently participating in a summer research team (volunteer position)
*List of schools:
USC, UCLA, Columbia, PENN, Havard (probably just waste of money?)

Thanks guys in advance!

I am not sure how the Canadian DAT compares to the US DAT, but assuming that 17 is still 'average' in Canada, you've got awesome DAT scores. Plus your GPA is stellar. I would apply to more schools than the ones you've listed, but I would imagine that with everything you've got going for you, you're in great shape.

Uh... what low score? :scared:

Thanks for your comment. So I should apply to more schools then.

Actually I thought I would need at least AA of 22~24 for Columbia or Harvard so that's what I meant by low DAT score. I wanted to know if my GPA could make up for my 20AA.

Thanks for your comment 🙂

lol.....are you serious with this post? I'm a little concerned that you are worried.

I actually got 18 for RC - this will probably hinder me from getting into some schools for sure. Don't you think so?

Hi, I am a UTSG graduate, and let me just say, don't apply to US dental schools because you have the GPA to go to a canadian school. It'll save you a lot of money. Dentistry is not so much of prestige, but i guess it depends on what you want to do, if you want to do research, maybe go to one of those you listed (take out USC). But UofT dents as you know is really good. And aDAT is very easy, if you can pull off a 3.99 at UTSG, it'll be a walk in the park for you.
Best of luck 🙂 stay in Canada. I would say go to UWO b/c it's easier, but then again, 3.99, anywhere will be easy for you 🙂

Thanks for the encouragement. Unless I get into one of those schools listed above (I'm applying to USC just because I know a faculty member there), I will be probably staying in Canada and hope to get into UofT Dentistry.
