Hey guys, just wanted to ask what my chances were...I seem to be all over the place...

G.P.A.
BCP: 3.38
Science: 3.43
Non-Science: 3.75
Cumulative: 3.57

DAT
Bio: 19
GC: 19
OC: 21
TS: 19
RC: 26
QR: 18
PAT: 24

ECs
~70 hours of volunteer/shadowing at a dental clinic
~900 hours of work as a dental technician
~200 hours of research experience
-currently working full time as a receptionist/accounts manager at a dental practice

This is actually my second time applying, and I am afraid these stats are still not good enough. I applied to 15 schools: OHSU, Michigan, Detroit, LLU, USC, Maryland, NOVA, Midwestern (AZ), Western, Marquette, BU, Tufts, Temple, NYU, UNLV. So far I only that interviews from NOVA and Midwestern, and I am unsure if I should be expecting more or not...

Don't really know what I can do if I don't get in this year...

During my senior year I took 20 credits of biology courses to raise my BCP, and my DAT score. I don't know what else I can do to increase my stats if I don't get accepted this year...

Out of curiosity, did you receive interview invitations during last year's cycle?

If so, what school interviewed you?

Also, when did you apply last year (month)?

I had one interview at LLU but that is because I am a Seventh-Day Adventist so I get an interview by default. Last year I applied in august. This year my mailing date was 7/23, but I couldn't get my supplementals in until early August because of certain issues.

ur stats are ok...and im am seriously on the same frequency as you...i was inspired by your first post......read it to my friend saying how similar our stories are and the passion for dentistry is the same too......my stats are (ie. GPAs) are nowhere near yours...but i did get a masters and KILLED it.....ur stats are good tho....stay confident....this is my 4th app cycle (seriously 🙁 ....but its all i want to do too)......ur still young and have lotsa options if not......but u will be ok
If all else fails now.....look into masters programs that have dental school directly after them.....but i dont think u will have to.....stay relaxed and confident in your interviews and ull get in
I HAVE FAITH IN YOU!! 🙂

these stats are great! keep your head up! I was snooping around the SDN site and saw a lot of similar stats.

out of curiosity, did you apply/are you a "disadvantaged" applicant?

I think that you've made a lot of improvement in your gpa since last year, which is definitely a big plus in your book! Going from a 3.25 to a 3.43 science gpa is no small feat, especially during senior year. It's the same thing I have to do this coming year, so there are other people in the same boat, and we can all relate. Plus you retook your DAT and made an improvement, which is great! 😀

I think you need to make a back up plan, but keep your head up and keep positive, because I think that your stats are ok. :xf: Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

thank you everyone 😍

you guys are making me feel better about my situation.

good luck to everyone out there too!!

p.s. hopefulDMD i am not a disadvantaged student

Your stats are fine. I have lower gpa/slightly higher dat, and I have a few interviews. I'm guessing you didn't apply super early? Either way, you will get interviews👍
