MCAT 25N (11 Verbal, 8 Biology, 6 Physical Science)
Science GPA 3.42
Non Science GPA 3.77
Overall GPA 3.62

I have 1,000+ Hours of community service (Including work in a local Emergency Department), a lot of shadowing experience, research (Honors in the Major), and two majors (Biology and Psychology).

I'm committed to osteopathic medicine, but im concerned my MCAT is to low.

Your good GPA balances your lower MCAT score, and you will have a decent chance at DO schools that don't have subscore cutoffs of 7 (assuming upward science grade trend, good LORs, well-written PS, and appropriate interview skills).

Thank you. My first choice is WVSOM. From what I read online I am competitive, but in the forum it seems that all the interviews are going to people with really high stats. Do you know if I have any shot at this school? Thanks again for your help.

Just hold tight! You may get a later interview. I think some schools will interview based on MCAT score over Gpa and others, the opposite.

You don't think reviewing for the MCAT's PS section will give you a lot of returns for your effort? A 6 is very low, and it's very possible to improve on that if you spend a month on the material (presuming you don't forget the BS section).

If you have already applied this year, there's not much else you can do... If you are applying for next year, I would retake the MCAT.

is that the only school you are applying to, or are you applying realistically and broadly? i really don't know how that 6 is going to look but it is definitely worth a try. don't get discouraged if you get automatically rejected by a few schools because you may have great luck at others. they may have a mcat cutoff.

I plan to retake in January if I don't get any offers this time around. I know I can do better. I was scoring between 28-30 on my practice exams but I think the pressure of the test got to me. I applied to 14 of the 26 DO schools, but I just really like WVSOM. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thank you for all the feedback.

Advice for testing pressure: If you prepare for 2 weeks BEFORE an exam, you will not feel rushed on the day of the exam. Make "skeleton" notes to gloss over on the night before the exam and the day of. Get PLENTY of rest and sleep. Perhaps meditate / exercise or whatever makes you feel better.

The test should make you go "ah, I know most of this, great!" rather than "omgomgomg wtfbbq I don't know half this stuff should've studied more".
