MD chances??
Student at Virginia Tech want to go to VCU medical school or somewhere in Virginia as I am resident of VA.
Stats: 3.5 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA, upward trend from freshman year, 200 hrs of high school volunteering in hospital, 200 hrs of internship under a pediatrician in her office did listing of vaccines and translated english to spanish and have a glowing recommendation from her. Also, 3 semesters of undergraduate research so far and is continuing and also going to be published by the end of the year will have a great recommendation there as well! Did a summer internship of research as well. haven't taken mcat yet but plan to do so! Winter break will have shadowing a doctor for 100 hrs. Part of a prehealth fraternity and a woman's prehealth group. Oh, and also hispanic.
Where can i improve and what are my chances of matriculating?
P.S i'm not applying until senior year as I want to raise my gpa up a bit more and study the summer for the mcat.
Thank you!

Continuing to improve your GPAs is a great idea. Be sure to take some upper-level Bio or Biochem and get A grades.

Since your application stats are not yet known, why not access this thread where you can scroll down to look at past Latino acceptance data for various cGPA and MCAT scenarios in a graphical depiction: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=838625

Many adcomms are not going to be impressed with HS activities. For how many months did you work at the pediatric office?

The research looks terrific. The shadowing will be fine (and if you translated for the pediatrician, that could be looked at as shadowing, too). What will you list for nonmedical community service? Do you have leadership or teaching experience? Don't forget to include hobbies, sports, and arts involvement.

Okay! Thank you for your advice catalystik!
i am currently taking upper level bio classes and will take biochem next semester 🙂
That link was also very helpful!
I worked at her office for about 3 months (summer) and it was not paid, i did also translate so it can be considered shadowing.
I am considering to certify be an emt-b so I can get hours as it is pretty difficult to get hours without some certification, would emt-b be a good idea?
I also tutored in general chemistry for two years for two different students (I wasn't paid). I don't have really any leadership experience 🙁 but i did organize a fundraiser walk for alzheimers this semester, would that count?
Thanks again!

1) Get certified if you wish, but there are many places you can volunteer to get clinical experience without certification, so you decide if it's worth the time and money. Examples would be a skilled-nursing center (not a retirement home), hospice, free-clinic, or rehab facility, besides another hospital (in one of many possible departments).

2) Sounds like leadership to me. Maybe you could do it again?
