Hello Fellow internet friends, I am a senior in College. Stats are:

freshman year: 3.1 gpa, I had a 5 withdraws 2 f's 2 d's

sophmore year: 3.0 gpa, mostly b's and c's.

Junior year: 3.8 gpa,

Senior year: taking prereqs now, because I decided to be a doctor over the summer.

No mcat yet but once prereqs are done I will be taking the test. I have een doing practice test and received 28-36 scores.

If i keep going it up and I achieve a mostly A's and b's in my prerqs, do I still have a chance?

I am 28 urm male hispanic. The reason for my first 2 years being so bad is my my mom had lung cancer and I had to work 2 jobs to pay for her hospital bills. After lung cancer, she had a brain tumor. My mother has been unemployed for the past 8 years and I have been the one working to pay the bills. I also had to put my brother through college, that is why i started college at such a late age.

anyways, should i continue and be a doctor?

With the promise shown by your terrific junior year grades, I definitely think you should continue on the current path. If you keep doing so well, there's no question that you have a chance, assuming appropriate ECs, supportive LORs, and well-written Primary Statement.

What is your overall cGPA and BCPM GPA so far, including all college classes taken (Ws don't count)? Have you retaken the Ds and Fs? If so, the DO application service only counts the retake, so your GPAs would be higher. How many credit hours will you take in the future, including this term, before graduating?

This might help:

Do you have clinical experience or any other relevant extracurriculars yet?

With your story and URM status, if you keep those grades up for senior year and score 28+ on MCAT you are going to med school. Good luck!
