What are my chances?

your stats are great. Of course you still need to take the MCAT, but your cGPA and sGPA could earn you some scholarships given you don't do terribly on the MCAT.

I urge you to shadow several podiatrist before applying. It's great that you have always had an interest in this field, but it's important for every pre-pod to see what day to day life is like for a podiatrist. It's important because we are essentially choosing our specialty way before our MD/DO counterpart (I hope I don't flag and anger some people by referring to them as our counterpart). Plus, you will need a good letter of recommendation from a podiatrist for your application. Goodluck and welcome!

Shadow a podiatrist asap. And study your ass off for the MCAT. You say you think you'll do average..why accept that? Study and kill it!

Thanks for the feedback. I'll definately try my best on the MCAT... and I'll be looking into shadowing a pod for sure. Definately have to be sure I get a taste before diving in.

Assuming I shadow for about a month and end up loving it...is it too late to apply for 2012 admissions? I know June 30th is the deadline, but are the seats already full?

I was planning on 2013 no matter where I go, but who knows..if 2012 possible I may try.

Usually the earlier you apply, the better the chance you have of getting in. With your stats, I think that even if you apply late, you will definitely get into all if not most of the schools you apply to. Just get above a 22 on the MCAT.

Good luck.

Stats look good so far. Keep it up.

Also, I agree about shadowing several podiatrists. Spend a lot of time with them making sure this is what you really want to do. If you find you like foot and ankle medicine/surgery then you will love being in the profession, if not it could mean a lifetime in a profession that may not be exactly for you.

Good luck with everything!

I also wanted to mention in regards to applying for fall 2012. From what I have heard, as time passes seats in the class are not the only things that start to diminish. I'm under the impression that scholarship money is also finite and can run out as you get later in the cycle. So depending on if you really want that scholarship or not you could wait for 2013 to get a larger sum or money. Although, I'm sure if you do well on the MCAT you will get some sort of scholarship from some schools.
