I notified the schools an they did not have a problem with it. Im also currently finishing up my masters in molecular medicine an writing a thesis on OBG pathology as well.

Cum gpa 2.78 (with out failing year really 3.0)
Grad gpa 3.103
MCAT 22
2200 hours as a histotech past 3 years
voulunteered in pathology 105 hours
Worked all through undergrad at accounting firm (needed the money)
1 publication
135 hours shadowing podiatrist
Received a couple awards the past few years as well

What is your science gpa?

What is your science gpa?

With my failing year the science gpa came out to a 2.61...Doesnt my masters an thesis work along with my work experience worth anything?? Or am I just being scolded for something which happined 6 years ago??

I'm sorry to say but your previous academic history is used to determine your potential future academic success.

No one is scolding you, sir/ma'am. YOU came on this site asking. If you're not prepared for someone to confront the reality of your poor academics, then you shouldn't have asked.

Im sorry I posted here looking for additional information. I get much more positive feedback from speaking to admission's. Hence why a letter of explination was asked for...My grad work doesnt correlate to my undergrad, but you rather just bash.

I honestly don't know what your chances are, but your gpa's are not helping you at all. In my opinion, that says more about your ability to perform in med school than extracurriculars, shadowing and yes, even the MCAT. Work experience? A histotech is fine, but not certain it helps that much towards being a podiatrist. It shows that you could hold down a job in a medical field, yes. You needed to rock your master's...a 3.0+ is barely passing, as most master's programs require a 3.0 to proceed to the next semester.

The MCAT score is nothing to write home about. With your gpa, I think you needed a much higher score. At this late in the app cycle, you may get an interview, but you'll just have to wait and see.

Your shadowing is great and shows that you are definitely interested in the profession. I dunno, the gpa's are shaky. Many of us have had a bad, semester, year, etc, but ended up doing a post bac or masters that had a drastically different outcome, killing the MCAT, and/or have had another career to draw from.

-sigh-

Not bashing. Being honest.

I'm sorry, but I looked at your old posts and you are hearing the same things and responding the same way you did in the dental forum. You've been posted there since 2007 and people have told you nothing here that you didn't already hear there. You have a terrible undergraduate gpa, legitimate excuses or not. I don't know the significance of your previous DAT scores, but an MCAT of 22 is below the average of all people who take the MCAT. You needed to rock your masters to make up for your ungrad. People told you that years ago - I read the posts. You didn't. If you don't like the feedback you receive here then stop posting. Don't bother complaining that this forum is full of gunners. It isn't. This forum is chalk full of people asking what their chances are with a sub 3.0 and an MCAT below 24. Like them - I suspect you have a reasonably good chance of getting into at 1 podiatry school because the admissions process just isn't competitive at all. However, you will be applying at the tail end of the process. You've shadowed a bunch, but I'd still recommend you learn everything you can about podiatry.

If you have a subpar GPA, you NEED to show schools something unique about yourself that makes you competitive. I see a very vanilla application. Nothing incredible that you're doing well. Of course, it's the admissions committees of each school to see what you have to offer their school. I personally had a MUCH loser science/cum GPA than you. But that was not indicative of my performance, I rocked out 3.2 GPA at a top 10 university my last 2 years, and a 4.0 for my postbac work. You need something in your application that reassures schools you won't just flame out. And don't worry bout Kidsfeet, he turns everyone down because he only has eyes for me. 😀

Just apply and see what happens. I would say initially your chances are low but keep improving as an applicant and they'll increase.

I was looking at old admittance records for popular california MD schools. Forgot if it was 2 or 3 years ago, but ucla offered an interview to a 2.8 22MCAT applicant. He/she didn't get a seat, but needless to say, there's always hope!

Can't seem to find the spreadsheet I was looking at. Will post if I do, interesting stuff.
