What are my chances?

I am applying to dental school this cycle and I am trying to decide where to apply (or cut out some schools that I have no chances in and save some money). My main concern is my GPA. It is around a 3.0 and I had a semester of academic probation. I have many F's and D's on my transcript from when I was young and partied too much. I don't know what my BCP gpa is yet. My DAT score is 26AA/30TS/24PAT. I am want to stay in the east coast/ new york area. I want to apply to all the good schools here, Columbia, NYU, UPenn, Harvard. Would those schools even look at my application given my GPA? What are your thoughts?
Good chance at NYU and Columbia. No chance at UPenn and Harvard.

Definitely apply to Columbia and NYU. Columbia will very likely accept you with that DAT and NYU is also pretty generous with low GPAs. UPenn would be a stretch and I wouldn't even bother with Harvard.

You should have a good chance with those scores. They want to see maturity throughout the years so good luck to you!

Thanks for the input guys. I would just like to note that I am actually 27. I did a post bac for all the chem, bio, and physics classes. I got a 3.8 or so GPA in the post bac. I did take some science classes in my undergrad. I just hope those classes don't drag my BCP GPA down.

Some schools, (like OSU) only look at your post-bacc stats if your post-bacc/masters is completed. That would definitely boost up your already awesome stats! Why not call up your schools and ask? It'll show your interest 🙂

Definitely take out UPenn& Harvard....with your high dat you have good chances at nyu. Def apply there
