Hi, just wondering how to spend my money on these applications because I don't have much of it.

MD stats:
MCAT 29: PS - 9 VR- 8 BS-12
BCPM 3.01
AO-3.24
Cummulative gpa: 3.13

-Did poorly in undergrad years but retook courses and got all A's (had a lot of family issues in undergrad years)
-Volunteered in a hospital for seven months while taking summer courses and working full time.
-Have worked in a biotech company as a lab assistant for almost a year and a half.

DO stats:
science gpa: 3.5
non-science gpa: 3.25
cumm gpa: 3.33

If anyone has any success stories or advice it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

I would say definitely concentrate your efforts at DO schools as you have a pretty good shot at them. MD is another story. Apply to the DO school in your state if there is one and other ones that are OOS friendly. Apply to low-tier MD that you realllly would love to go to.

Just get your apps in asap and continue building your EC's.

URM? Apply MD/DO. Non-URM? DO.

I would not spend a dime applying to MD withe these stats if I were you. You are almost a shoo-in for DO; therefore, concentrate your effort appplying to DO.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have one last question, how heavily does the disadvantaged status weigh in admissions? I'm applying as a disadvantaged applicant because I am the first person in my family to graduate college, my father had a severe drug addiction until my early 20's and attempted to take is life while I was in college. Does this get factored in at all? Or is it still a waste of money to apply to md programs? I would like to obtain an md because I want the option of obtaining competitive residencies (although I'll work my butt off in whichever med school I go to). One thing I learned from life is that I NEVER want to be in the position I'm in now, unsure of getting something that I really want.

PS no I am not a URM

I dont see anywhere you can put that in AACOMAS application...My father and mother did not have a high school diploma and I dont see anywhere I can put that in the application because the options they give you are from high school and up.
