I would like to attend Appalachian College of Pharmacy in Virginia and am wondering what you all think my chances of getting in are.
To tell you about myself: I am 27 and worked as a pharmacy technician for Walgreens for several years, though I am currently unemployed. My pharmacy tech license has expired but I could easily renew it and have considered getting a part time job at a local pharmacy sometime soon. I am in the midst of planning a wedding and will probably pursue the PT job/license renewal afterwards.
I have been taking classes off and on since HS but have never obtained a degree. I was studying to become and RN but never really wanted to be one so I didn't take my schooling seriously, and therefore; I've got a pretty low GPA right now.
However, last semester I decided that there wasn't any reason that I couldn't become a pharmacist if I really tried hard and have drastically changed my studying habits. I was able to take 12 credits of pre-req's this semester and earn A's in all 4 classes. I plan on trying very hard with my remaining pre-reqs (about 4-5 semesters worth) and bringing up my GPA.
I just wonder what my chances are of getting into a pharmacy school with a background like mine. I've failed classes, am attending a community college and will not have a degree. The school I will apply to doesn't require a degree but I just always feel like I should get one.
What do you all think? Am I crazy for trying?
