Hello, I was wondering what are my chances after studying for a month? I took the DAT first today 9am 1/9/2013. I just graduated college and I have a 3.55 science and 3.53 overall gpa.I have already taken all the upper level science biology courses such as Anatomy and physiology, immunology, biochem I/II, microbiology, and neuroscience. I have done 2 years spinal cord injury research. Have lots of ECs. Tutor Athlethics in Chemistry and Organic chemistry. I am ESL. What are my chances applying to dental schools?

I scored
PAT-21
QR-16
RC-16
Biology-18
GC-20
OC-20
TS-19
AA-18

What are my chances to get in dental school? Also, what dental school do you think would give me a chance? Honest feedback would be great!

Thanks!

You definitely stand a chance somewhere. Apply to 20+ schools.
Also high five for being ESL lol. We got this!!

I think you have a chance if you apply to the right schools. Make sure your personal statement and extracurriculars are both pristine! It's not all about the DAT score. I'm a great example of that.

You look solid overall and are on the right path for sure! Only thing that I would maybe try to improve upon are the RC and QR sections of the DAT as some schools have a cutoff of either 17 or 18. Research the schools you had in mind and see if this applies. It's really a bummer because you did very well in the sciences and PAT. I think if you pulled your RC and QR to an 18, you would be a very solid applicant and have a good chance to a number of schools. I know it's rough to take the DAT again, but if you were able to replicate those scores and bump up the other sections, you would seriously open up the number of schools you'd have a shot at. However, as EpicDentist stated, it isn't always about the DAT. I got an interview at Maryland with a 17 in Organic and they usually have a cut off at around 18. Polish everything up and you definitely have a shot.
