Hi all
I'd like some feedback on how my stats are looking . I started out my undergrad well but halfway through I got a bit burnt out, discouraged, and was sort of talked out of medicine by my parents .. ended up having some grade flops. Anyways, I got it together and my drive was rekindled and performed very well senior year and half of my junior year - showing an upward trend in my GPA.
Using the AACOMAS GPA calculator with grade replacements my gpa is standing at a 3.63cGPA and 3.57sGPA.
My main grade flops were:
Physics 1: D , B (retake)
Ochem 1: D, F, B (retake)
and Calculus 1: W,W,D,B(retake)
I do have a C in ochem2 but Im debating whether or not i should retake it? I'm currently in Biochem 1 and looking at an A and was also planning on taking Biochem2. All other grades are A's or B's.

I'll be shadowing a DO soon, and hoping to get a bit more clinical experience. Planning on taking the MCAT in Sept. this would likely make me a late applicant? Though I noticed some DO schools have deadlines starting in December and extending through to April. Or should I move my MCAT up to late june/ early July ( this would only give me 2 months study time).
Do i stand a chance? Should i retake the Ochem2 C or leave it seing how I've managed well in upper level courses?
I'm already looking at a gap year if I apply this upcoming cycle. In the event that I do postpone until next cycle (June 2014) I'd be considering an SMP program at a local DO school. Thing is, I live in Texas and we use TMSDAS, the only DO school in Texas also uses TMSDAS , which does not use grade replacement. Without the grade replacement i'm looking at a 3.3/3.4 GPA. I'm just really anxious to get in, I'd hate to postpone my dreams by another year. 🙁 Though I'd be looking at considerably cheaper tuition (~20k/yr) in the event that I do get accepted in state. But money cant buy time.. what do.
Thanks.
