Hey guys, I know you are probably sick of posts like this, but I just want to gauge how many schools I should apply to and a lot of that is based on my odds of getting in certain places.

As of right now my top schools are Harvard or UCLA but I am not sure how likely I am to get in, so if some of you with more experience (either attending at those schools or others like them or getting interviews there) could let me know what you think my chances are that would be appreciated.

I am a Neuroscience major from BYU. I have a 4.0 GPA (both non-science and science) with DAT scores: 25AA, 26TS, 23PAT. I have 200+ hours of volunteering in various environments as well as good work and shadowing experience.

Again, if anyone here with experience or insight into these schools could give me an idea of my odds of getting in, that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Besides volunteering, what EC's do you have? Anything that makes you "unique"?

What kinds of things are you looking for?

A little more about me: I am a web developer and I have started a few of my own businesses. I have managed a door to door sales team in various parts of the United States.

You remind me of myself. That kind of background (even aside from your extremely high stats) would put you in front of many other "typical" applicants with the basic set of volunteering and EC's.

Probably will get interviews, but that doesn't mean you will actually get in.

See this is interesting! Make sure to highlight this in your application/interviews. High stats aren't enough, need to show you have that X factor.

If I am understanding you correctly, you are saying that my background in web development and entrepreneurship would set me apart significantly? If that is what you are saying that is a relief, as I am an middle-upper class white male and am looking for ways to differentiate.

What was your experience like Alpha?

Thanks! What part of the application should I include things like this in? The experience section?

You are solid brotha. Apply to Columbia, they will love your uniqueness and expect to have a chill conversation about it as your interview :highfive:

Your stats are awesome! Best of luck!

I have an interview with Columbia coming up in October that I am super excited for. After doing more research they have quickly moved up near the top of my list. Fingers crossed I get accepted there! Would be a dream come true.

Columbia is definitely a great school. Have you heard anything from HSDM or UCLA?
