what are similarities and differences b/w MD and DO schools?

I start med school (allopathic) in about a month.

It is not until I joined SDN recently that I have heard soooo much discussion about MD vs DO.

I'm not asking for a defensive comparison as I've seen in previous threads, but I just really want to know what the similarities and differences are b/w the two schools and residencies.
