I have heard that EMs have flexible hours and actually choose when they want to work. Is this true? And if it is what are some of the common ways you are allowed to pick your hours. For example can you work 3 days a week?

Yes, true.

Especially as you become more of a "veteran" attendings. Junior attendings will likely work more shifts or more night shifts...

I just saw an ad for an EM position in Los Angeles...it was offering $200,000 for working three 12 hour shifts a week. So to answer your question....yes.

Wow! Knowing this just but the cherry on top of the ice cream. Emergency medicine is the perfect career for me. There is action on the job, no on call, and you can only work three days a week.

Always measure the depth of the water before diving into the pool.
