Hey guys, I was wondering if you could give a list of what you think are the must need books, etc. that one would need to prepare well for the boards. A little one liner describe the major strengths (e.g. good for biochem, good mnemonics for remembering things) of the stuff would be appreciated too. Thanks!

Must have items for the NBDE part I, assuming you just want to pass:

1) dental decks

If you want to score well for residency purposes you can add:

2) recent (1990's onward) old exams

That's all you "need" AFAIC. Other sources, though potentially helpful, are not strictly necessary. Mastering the decks & oldies is more than sufficient to score extremely well in my experience.

well, it depends on howmuch time you have, if you have quite enough time, Kaplan review book will provide you a very great foundation, in addition to the "dental decks" and samples of old exams. if you are short of time, then dental decks and the oldies would deliver the goods ! I hope you the best of luck!
