What are the "right" ECs?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There are no "right" ECs. Do some activities that show leadership. Do some activities that show your commitment to medicine and help you to understand what physicians and other healthcare professionals do. Get some interesting research experience that fits your interests. Have interests that (would) add diversity to a medical school class... and act on them. Have fun in college. Be interesting. That's what will you desirable as an applicant (beyond the academic record/MCAT, of course).

you pretty much have to have at least one of the first three to prove that you know what an MD is all about

I'm genuinely surprised and impressed. I expected a swift barrage of comments suggesting curing cancer or saving African babies. No doubt they'll eventually come, perhaps in direct response to my post. But I'm still impressed that the first initial posters didn't. Kudos 👍 because it started to get old about 2 years ago.

Oops, misinterpreted the question

Haha good one!

The "right" EC's? Cannot be defined by anybody else but you.

Leadership? Can involve a title or not. Basically, position in a group or organization where you have to coordinate a group effort to reach a common goal.

Strengthen application? Ones where your involvement demonstrates your commitment and passion to the organization.

Hey All,

What are the best "EC"? What exactly constitutes leadership experience?

Which EC's strengthen an application?
the best EC's are the ones YOU enjoy.
Ha! People say this but seldom mean it. You'll see people in the "What are my chances" asking about EC's and it's pretty much the same ****. Regardless of your interests, everyone will still say the following are unwritten requirements:

Research, volunteer, shadow, maybe hold some leadership position (even better if it's health-oriented) 😴
