So, I know it's a bit early yet, but I was just wondering what y'alls plans were for this summer. Has anyone heard back from any summer research programs? I applied to about 20...most of them said I'd hear back by late February/early March.

I'm going to be at the University of Virginia for six weeks at their SMDEP, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do the rest of the summer. Hopefully I can referee some basketball games, but we'll see what happens.

get a job, get a volunteering position, get laid, get paid.

but seriously, probably research somewhere.

Going to Peru for fun. Other than that, playing a lot of basketball and spending some quality time at the pool. The next 4 years are going to be hard enough without including the summer before.

Exactly that, except substitute "Peru" for "Greece"

Hopefully an internship somewhere, I sent off my applications today. If not, volunteering/applying to be a scribe in the ER. Oh yeah, one other little thing... applying!! 😱

I'll be doing that, minus the research somewhere.

Okay okay...I'll be working full time at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory which pays very well - and volunteering at my local hospital on some nights and weekends. The getting laid part would be a sweet bonus.

My schedule for the summer is packed:

1. get up from bed
2. have breakfast
3. sit on couch
4. turn on TV
5. watch TV
6. turn off TV
7. go to sleep
8. repeat.

May & june I'll be finishing some research I'm working on, july & august I'm traveling. Should be a good summer!

June may involve a bit of vacationing! Class starts in early July, though.

Tying up work-related loose-ends. Then emulating this gangster until med school starts.

Taking EMT-B certification. Studying/bracing myself for calculus. Getting ready for my first year of undergrad (not counting the 4 week fiasco last year where I withdrew, took a year off, and decided I love medicine and want to be a physician... although the year trade for discovering a passion is something I do not regret in the least).

Research. And applying. And overcoming the sleep deficit I've accumulated over the past couple of months

Traveling, hanging out with college friends, family, 22nd birthday (hopefully downtown Austin again)

Continuing to volunteer at one position, and trying to get a spot volunteering in an ER I guess...

School...work...story of my life...maybe build a new catheter or something for kicks.

have a ton of fun! 😀

I support these actions.

Research at my university; good things its close to home.

1)princeton review course
2)volunteer
2)work out and get a tan again (from ca, but go to school in seattle)

Not cool 👎 Though I love how that sad face actually cries 😀

I would love to travel...we'll see if that happens.

I want to travel too! But I'm still looking for a not too tedious job that will allow me to live in nyc with $$ left over for globe hopping. Any ideas? So far it seems like illegal professions fit these criteria the best.

Taking 7 hours at my university, probably continuing to volunteer and hopefully I'll be working in the hospital by then.

30% working
30% veggin out online
30% watching porn
10% watching more porn

NSERC! plus productive fun stuff! Other than that, as much unproductive fun stuff as possible.

Bali, Indonesia for 3 and a half week and then hanging out at home until July when I move to Southern California for med school in August.

I like to have sufficient time to get comfortable in an area, so I'll probably spend like a month where I am going in So. Cal (haven't decided yet) to get situated before school starts (It'll either be San Diego or LA)

Play as much as possible before I sell my soul for the next decade.

wow that sounds interesting. Do you have family there? What are you thinking of doing there?

No family and I have never been there before.

What you do in Bali:

Surf, Snorkel, Sail, Scuba Dive, lie on the beach, hike moutains/volcanoes, visit hindu and buddhist temples (Most of indonesia is muslim but Bali is predominantly Hindu), eat food (which is really cheap) and generally relax.

There's also white water rafting, jungle trekking, elephant riding etc...

It is fairly popular "tourist" destination for Australians (it is much closer to them). Great for outdoor activities. The surfing is world famous.

gonna work on a farm under the california sun.

always wanted to work on a farm.

This summer I will be participating in the AMGEN Scholar program at UC - San Francisco medical center so I'm pretty stoked about that. It'll be intense but Im really looking forward to living in and exploring San Francisco.

Hmmm...I hadn't considered applying to be a scribe. I was thinking of doing some more volunteering & getting some kind of job if I don't get into research. A scribe in the ER sounds cool....

Apply to AMCAS. Teach for TPR. TA for OChem. Take Anatomy.
