I think we all need an uplifting post - so, it's getting closer to the first day of classes and for many of us, our first day as vet students!!

What are you looking forward to most in this upcoming year?

For me:
- Starting a new chapter in my life
- Meeting new people and making some great friends
- Going to the library with some coffee (yes, I actually love and miss the library)
- Exploring a new campus town

Meeting 130 other people with the same goal
NOT WORKING
Tying what I learn back to things I've seen at work

Having my own place, feeling like I'm finally on track in a career that I love.

I'm looking forward to...Edinburgh! I hear it's a great city, and I'm glad I'll have 4 years to explore.

Also, I'm excited about meeting some of the other GEP students I've met online.

Graduation. 2 years. 10 months. 14 days. Not that I'm counting or anything.

We just finished our last day of classes, so yeah, can't say I'm real excited to get back into the swing of things.

Me too. And the food! It would be way awesome if there were open air markets/farmers' market close to the school.

If by excited you mean 'that feeling that induces vomiting' I would say finding out whether I can handle the courseload without failing miserably!

And in terms of 'looking forward to' - making new friends, spending 3 years on a caribbean island, learning about things that actually interest me and pursuing my dream!

Haha, I'm actually a little nervous about the food. I'm willing to try all of those classic Scottish delights such as Haggis, but I hear there's a penchant for deep-frying and you can't find decent Mexican food *anywhere*. I don't think I'll starve or anything, but it's going to be a change.

Luckily I love to cook, so we will definitely have to hunt down an open air market so I can get some fresh ingredients 🙂 I think farmers markets are quite popular in the UK (especially large cities), and I'm going to get a bike, so I think I can find something in the vicinity.

My list:
- Moving to beautiful Colorado!
- Exploring a new town and a new state.
- Living alone (well, with the dog).
- Decorating a new place.
- Meeting tons of new people!

Thank you for this thread!!! The other thread about cold feet was so depressing🙁 I've had my fears (my husband & I will be living in different states), BUT I'm so excited about vet school.:soexcited: I am endlessly grateful that I was accepted on my first try. After spending 3 1/2 years in a job that was completely wrong for me, I can't wait to get started on the path to a career that is completely right for me.

Also, I'm very excited about decorating my new condo😀

Much more uplifting thread! We're all nervous about starting vet school, but thinking about the positives helps a lot 😀 So for me, I'd have to say I'm most excited about...

-moving to a real city (Columbus, OH)
-making new friends, of course
-meeting my big sib! he seems like a nice guy
-seeing snow, it's been a while for me
-class elections b/c I think it would be fun to run for an office
-having an excuse to drink unhealthy volumes of coffee again
-anatomy lab! I know they say the freshman smell from it, but it's gonna be so cool
-figuring out what area in vet med is the best fit for me (I'm leaning towards mixed practice)

I've been reading my joining packet again, and I remembered that we get to help with lambing over Easter break, and I'm very excited! Too bad that's not for months and months, but it's still something to look forward to.

-Four more years in Titletown, USA (Gainesville)

Same here! Especially the first part ... 😱 and except I'll be in Ithaca, NY, not the Caribbean.
