What are your thoughts on Holistic Dentistry? I’m an undergrad student and came across some interesting articles on Holistic Dentistry. I just talked with one of my professor and he agreed to supervise me in doing a special study on Holistic Dentistry. I’m really excited and want to know your thoughts on the topic.

LOL..wow thanks for the input! I think it's a little interesting...not as interesting as traditional dentistry. Would it look bad if I did a undergrad special study on Holistic Health? The reason I did a post is to see what actual dentist and soon to be dentist think about the topic.

Thinking about the whole body and not just the oral cavity is a good idea. The problem is that "holistic" dentists use this to do a range of things that aren't scientifically based.

Where is the mind located? In part of the brain? I can't seem to find it in my anatomy textbook....

There have been a couple threads on this subject in the past and all of them ended with the conclusion that its pretty much bs and/or a moneymaking tool. There was one particularly interesting chart posted that showed "links" between parts of the mouth and some organ systems....pretty crazy stuff.

i would be very careful about this. putting this on the CV will raise a red flag when you applying to dental schools.

I am too very skeptical about hollistic dentistry, but it seems to be a very interesting reading. Let me hear it. By the way, I heard on CNN that Mrs.King passed away at a holistic health center in Mexico. Had she been in the US, she may be still alive today. DP
