Not getting into should one have one or not, but I will say it does add value; no doubt.

any extra training is obviously going to make you more well prepared and know more than not doing not. That being said, I didn't do one (because of family monetary obligations) and I think I practice just fine...but if I did do one I probably would know more. The question is if the people who did a residency felt that year made a huge difference.
