Just curious about what everyone is planning to do volunteering-wise now that school is about to start. Or what volunteering you plan to continue?

Since this is the last week of my research internship (woo hoo) i'm currently looking for shadowing opportunities (if anyone knows a good place in NY, don't be shy), and move my volunteerism from a hospital (where I do barely nothing) to a free clinic (where I hopefully get a lil bit more to do). :xf:

Gonna share your plans too OP?

I'm finishing up the last week or two of a summer spent volunteering in the autopsy suite in a hospital. 😀

I'm on summer vacation right now, and I'm hoping to talk to my old pediatrician and see if I can get a weekly thing going where I can shadow him for a few hours a week during school.

hospital volunteering, non-clinical volunteering (two of em), free tutoring, ...and ya

I plan on starting volunteering at the hospital by my school, but I'd like to do something a little more creative. I would really enjoy volunteering w/ children with disabilities... We'll see. But I'm also going to be a special volunteer at NCI in October. I wish there was more time in the week! Lol. 🙄

Tutoring and volunteering at a Children's hospital.

Continued volunteer at local homeless shelther doing laundry. Just got hired at UTSW st. paul hospital as a pct (start next monday), so I will begin working on networking for possible LOR's.😎

Any suggestions on volunteering while working full time? After work I seriously just want to sleep.

I'm doing full time school PLUS working 25 hrs/week. So I'm in the same boat! My options are pretty much limited to Saturdays. I know my local hospital has volunteering hours on Saturdays, along with a lot of other opportunities, like animal shelters, soup kitchens, etc.

I used to volunteer at a free clinic because I had a half day during the week but no more and that clinic doesn't work on weekends. I think I will go with some homeless shelter. Maybe they are open at night or on weekends. Still waiting to hear some cool ideas on this.

i hear ya as well. school full-time, working 20 hours a week, and i'm a Patient Advocate Volunteer at our local hospital for about 2 hours a week, and then i also volunteer in their gift shop for another 4 hours a week.

(did i do this "quote" thing right? haha i haven't had much experience with message boards since i was a lot younger.)

One of these:

Surgery CCU

Emergency Services in Bryan or College Station

Surgical Prep

Cath lab

Patient Transporter

Not sure which one I can do yet.

I volunteer with kids at the local homeless shelter and at a preschool. I was working at a free clinic, but I need to find something else. (I loved the experiences with the patients, but ultimately feel they have too many volunteers. I spent a lot of time sitting around, doing nothing.) I'm hoping to work with developmental disabled kids or at a hospital.

I feel bad that I slacked off on volunteering this summer. It's something I love to do, but I just came home exhausted every day after work. It's rather pathetic.

Definitely will be applying to join my school's volunteer first aid squad... Watch out! 😉 Probably going to apply to volunteer at a local hospital, hopefully some lab volunteering as well second semester to make connections.

4 hr per week at postpartum clinic....yay....

EMT firehouse... One night a week, where I mostly sleep, win/win

a couple hours a week at the hospital doing whatever I'm told

I'm seeing a LOT of clinical volunteering... Which is awesome!

Anyone have any non clinical volunteering they'd like to share?
